Dr. Sheila Wilson, Ed. D.
Instructional Leader
Dr. Wilson knows that when students can move beyond the curriculum and encounter their content objectives through the lens of real-world experiences, learning is amplified. As a 5th-grade teacher, she saw the explosion of student engagement and autonomy through the integration of Defined’s PBL experiences in her classroom. Understanding that students need to be the drivers of their own learning as they work toward their unique future careers, Sheila is excited to partner with other educators to unlock the same power in their classrooms as part of the Defined Instructional Leadership team.
Sheila has passionately served 30+ years as a teacher, program director, lead mentor teacher, educational consultant, coach, adjunct professor, and administrator in private and public schools in Louisiana and Virginia. She has worked with students at every educational level and has been an advocate for the equitable access of resources and opportunities for all students. Dr. Wilson received her BA and M.Ed degrees from the University of New Orleans and earned her Ed.D in K-12 School Leadership from Regent University. Believing in the power of education to transform lives Sheila has committed herself to working with educators across the country through coaching, training, presenting at conferences, and facilitating professional development. Currently working as an administrator, Dr. Wilson also finds joy as a Learning Architect building personalized learning experiences for adults through her own company AmplifyED Educational Consulting.
A proud New Orleans native, Sheila resides in Virginia. She is a self-professed hula hoop champion (and has the trophy to prove it) and enjoys spending time with her husband Robin taking long walks, reading big books, and spending time with their adorable doggie, Boudreaux.
