Beth began her teaching career in Chicago as a Teach for Chicago fellow teaching 1st and 3rd grade while earning her M Ed from Loyola University in Chicago. In her first 5 years of teaching in Chicago, she learned quickly how important it is to offer hands-on learning experiences for students to add engagement and real-world experience. This built the students' confidence and investment in their own learning. She then moved to an EL Education school in Chicago. Her experience here was surrounded by a mission to guide students to be self-motivated, creative, and critical thinkers. She gained experience in building the culture of the school as it grew from a K-3 school to a K-8 school at capacity. She learned to design curriculum with deep learning and reflection practices embedded so students could create work as experts of their learning. It was an honor for Beth to learn and grow with her students as they took on roles such as BeeKeepers, Bread Store Owners, and Cartographers.
Beth resides in the northern suburbs of Chicago with her husband, three children, and dog. When Beth is not working she enjoys spending time with her family in northern Wisconsin, cheering on her children at swim meets and games for various sports, and spending time outdoors.
