Heather Wertman

Director of Educational Collaboration and Learning

As the Director of Educational Collaboration and Learning at Defined, Heather Wertman continues her passion for education. She supports the development of content providing authentic learning experiences that empower, impact, and connect students to the world. Heather also enjoys designing and delivering engaging in-person and virtual learning opportunities leading to deeper learning for both teachers and students. Heather is an experienced Project Based Learning (PBL) practitioner and leader who is  an expert in using the Defined resources bringing PBL to life in classrooms across the country.

Heather has served students in various roles during the past 25 years including as a classroom teacher, STEM & Innovation Leader, curriculum developer and building level administrator for grades K-6.  She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Misericordia University, PA, and earned her M.S. in Classroom Technology from Wilkes University, PA. Most recently, she obtained her Principal’s Certificate from Marywood University, PA. A lifelong learner herself, Heather continually strives to improve her own pedagogy and believes collaboration with other educators elevates the teaching profession toward meaningful outcomes for all. Additionally, she teaches at the university level and enjoys mentoring new educators in the field. She is passionate about equipping educators with strategies and tools to create environments in which all learners can thrive. 

Heather currently resides in Northeastern Pennsylvania. She enjoys travel, exercise and beginning new adventures!
