Carolyn Marchetti, ED. D.

Vice President of Curriculum & Professional Learning

As Vice President of Curriculum & Professional Learning at Defined, Dr. Marchetti develops content, curriculum and leads professional development for educators. Carolyn began her journey with Defined part-time in 2013 writing math tasks and content for Defined Learning (at the time it was known as Defined STEM). She started her full-time work with Defined in 2016. Carolyn’s beliefs align with Defined’s mission that “when learning is hands-on and self-reliant, students build the confidence they need to take their knowledge into the real world.”

Carolyn began her education career as a middle and high school math teacher in Pennsylvania and later in North Carolina. In the classroom she uncovered a passion for creating experiences and tools that engage and empower learners. Dr. Marchetti has also held administrative positions at the district, county and state levels in PA.  Carolyn holds a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education, a M.Ed. in Teaching and Curriculum (both from Penn State University) and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University. She has extensive experience designing curriculum, using the Understanding by Design framework.  

Carolyn currently lives in eastern North Carolina. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the local beaches, volunteering at the state Aquarium, playing disc golf and watching Penn State Nittany Lions and Philadelphia Eagles football!
