Company History
Since 2009, Defined has worked to design enriching, engaging, career-connected deeper learning lessons and resources for students and teachers. Our goal has always been to think outside the box when it comes to student engagement and application of knowledge by bringing real-world experiences into the classroom.
In 2014 after partnering with Jay McTighe, co-author of the Understanding by Design (UbD) Framework, Defined has delved deeper into a more holistic approach to education. Our Evidence-Based Framework is rooted in Deeper Learning, UbD, and High-Qualiy Project-Based Learning (HQPBL).
Our tools and offerings have expanded greatly over the years, starting with Defined Learning (formerly Defined STEM) and Defined Academy, followed by the launch of Defined Careers in 2020 and Defined Goals in 2023.
We currently support over 108,000 teachers and over 5,000 schools nationwide. We also have statewide partnerships in Tennessee, Connecticut, and Oklahoma providing our career-connected deeper learning curriculum and resources to all schools and districts across the states free of charge.
Our ongoing research and product development support our passionate belief that educators benefit and students flourish when education standards, skills, and career-oriented curriculum are aligned for students of all ages.
