Alignment with Washington Standards
Defined’s content aligns with the Washington State Learning Standards (WSLS) for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science (incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards), and Social Studies. Defined helps bridge classroom content with authentic career applications enabling students to develop and transfer knowledge while building essential future-ready skills.
In addition, Defined supports statewide initiatives such as Washington's Performance-Based Pathway, helping districts guide students in exploring careers, setting goals, and tracking readiness for college, career, and life. Our comprehensive ecosystem of career-connected deeper learning resources also empowers schools to advance Washington's Profile of a Graduate through high-quality content and assessments aligned to the state's priorities.
Career-Connected Learning
Defined’s comprehensive career-connected learning platform supports the implementation of Career Connect Washington (CCW) and the Washington State Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program Standards. Our resources align with Washington's 16 Career Clusters and help districts strengthen their delivery of career awareness, exploration, preparation, and work-based learning experiences in alignment with the CCW and state labor market priorities.
Through engaging hands-on and minds-on projects across all career clusters and pathways, students build career awareness, reflect on their skills and interests, and gain authentic experiences across industries. Defined also supports districts in meeting the goals of Washington's Profile of a Graduate and initiatives led by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), such as the High School and Beyond Plan, equipping students with the knowledge and experiences needed to make informed decisions about their futures—whether entering the workforce, pursuing postsecondary education, or both
