Defined & Missouri

Defined & Missouri Alignment

Alignment with Missouri Standards

Defined’s content aligns with the Missouri Learning Standards (MLS) as well as the state's Individual Student Planning (ISP) and Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP). Defined helps bridge classroom content with authentic career applications enabling students to develop and transfer knowledge while building essential future-ready skills.

In addition, Defined supports statewide initiatives such as the Success-Ready Students Network (SRSN), helping districts guide students in exploring careers through real-world, hands-on experiences that expand opportunities in local communities while helping them set goals and track their readiness for college, career, and life. Our comprehensive ecosystem of career-connected deeper learning resources also empowers schools to advance locally Defined Portraits of a Graduate through high-quality content and assessments aligned to Missouri's priorities.

Career-Connected Learning

Defined’s comprehensive career-connected learning platform supports the implementation of Missouri's ISP, ICAP, and Career Pathways initiative while supporting the goals of Missouri’s Perkins V State Plan. Our resources help districts strengthen CTE implementation by connecting academic learning to Missouri's career clusters, approved programs of study, and the state’s focus on high-demand, high-skill, and high-wage occupations identified through the Missouri Department of Economic Development and Missouri Chamber Workforce2030 initiatives.

Through engaging hands-on and minds-on projects across all career clusters and pathways, students deepen career awareness, reflect on their strengths and interests, and gain authentic, real-world experiences across Missouri’s priority industries. Defined also supports districts in meeting the requirements of locally defined Portraits of a Graduate, equipping students with the knowledge and experiences needed to make informed decisions about their futures—whether entering the workforce, pursuing postsecondary education, or both.
